Stomach tube is inserted from the nostril or oral cavity, through the stomach tube from the pharynx to the stomach through the esophagus, mostly used for pumping gastric juice, gastric lavage when acute poisoning, can also be used to inject liquid to and from the stomach to provide patients with necessary food and nutrition, care should be paid attention to avoid gastric tube pollution, and gastric tube propulsive, resulting in aspiration.

Method of use:
Position client while intubating and clean and lubricate nasal cavity. Tilt client's head back and insert the gastric tube at an Angle of 60° from the nostril, continuing to the nasopharynx; When the gastric tube was inserted to 15CM (pharynx),1ml sterilized paraffin oil was dropped along the outer wall of the gastric tube, and the patient's head was held up so that the lower jaw was pressed against the chest wall to increase the radian of the throat, so that the gastric tube could slide along the back wall and smoothly enter the esophagus through the throat. At this point, the patient is instructed to slowly insert the gastric tube to the desired length while swallowing and then fix it.

Then check if the tube is in the stomach. After the gastric tube is successfully inserted, the gastric tube should be properly fixed. The method is: At the nostril, a tape of about 3cm in length is first used to circle the gastric tube twice as a mark, and then a 6-7cm tape is used to cross and fix the alar of the nose. Then a prepared tape of about 50-60cm in length (belt width: 1.5cm) is used to tie a knot around the gastric tube at the nostril (the knot does not affect the drainage of the gastric tube), and then the tape is bypassed on both sides of the patient's head. A slip-knot is tied on one side to strengthen and fix the gastric tube.
